Terms of Service & Usage

Please read these terms carefully. By accessing the StudioVid web studio or installing our Chrome/Edge extensions, you agree to comply with our local-first processing policies and usage guidelines.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing the StudioVid website (studiovid.org) or utilizing our browser-based applications and extensions (collectively referred to as the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and unequivocally agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you are prohibited from using the Service.

2. Description of the Service

StudioVid provides a powerful suite of "Local-First" multimedia tools designed to operate entirely within your web browser. This includes, but is not limited to, video downloading (HLS/M3U8), format conversion, audio extraction, and video compression utilizing WebAssembly and local FFmpeg engines.

Because our Service utilizes your local hardware (CPU/RAM) to process files, the speed, quality, and capability of the tools are directly dependent on your device's specifications. We do not host, store, or process your media on our servers.

3. Privacy & Zero-Knowledge Processing

Your privacy is protected by our structural design. StudioVid is built on a Zero-Knowledge architecture. We do not have access to the videos you edit, the M3U8 streams you intercept, or the files you compress. For complete details on how we handle analytics and functional cookies, please refer to our dedicated Privacy Policy.

4. Prohibited Uses & Copyright

While StudioVid provides the technical means to download and edit web streams, you are solely responsible for the content you process. You explicitly agree not to use the Service to:

  • Download or distribute copyrighted material without the explicit permission of the rights holder.
  • Attempt to bypass highly encrypted DRM (Digital Rights Management) systems (e.g., Widevine, PlayReady).
  • Automate, scrape, or reverse-engineer our web-app architecture or extension API.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

StudioVid is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the continuous operation of the Service, the compatibility of specific M3U8 streams, or the absolute prevention of data loss during local browser processing. You use the Service entirely at your own risk.

6. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time to reflect updates to our browser extensions or changes in international law. Continued use of the StudioVid web studio or extensions following the posting of any changes constitutes acceptance of those modifications.
